Torreon is a city in the Mexican state of Coahuila, comprising some one million people. It is the ninth largest metropolitan area in Mexico. The city is served by the Francisco Sarabra International Airport, which is a small airport servicing locations in the US and Mexico.
Torreon’s climate is hot and dry, and the fauna and flora of the city and its environs belong to a desert environment. An interesting aspect of the city is its welath of universities. There are a number of well-recognized and established institutions with campuses in the municipality.
Important landmarks include the Cristo de las Noas, which is the third largest statue dedicated to Jesus Christ in Latin America.
