New Aztec structures keep being unearthed in Mexico City these days, and the unearthing of razed by Cortes and his fellow conquistadores is the latest one. In March 2007, Â as construction workers were busy working in the Iztapalapa district of Mexico City, they uncovered what is now believed to be the lost remains of the main Aztec pyramid, destroyed in the 1500s by Hernan Cortes.Â
Â
Until now, it was impossible to explore and dit this area because of the urban settlement on top of it. Five hundred years after Cuitlahuac, the chief of Iztapalapa, came close to annihilating Cortes and his troops, the city’s temple is once again seeing the light of the sun.
Â
You can go and see all these marvellous structures and historic ruins with your own eyes. On top of the pleasure of exploring Mexico City as a touristic destination, you’ll love to breathe the poetic atmosphere of history and legend. Â

Xochicalco is like an open book of Maya history. An architectural testimony to the prowess of determination and resilience in the face of human made and natural catastrophes, this monument will endure for as long as the human race can withstand its own destructive powers.

Ek Balam (Dark Jaguar) is one of the oldest Mayan sites in Mexico, and it was a major center of power until it was eclipsed in around 1200 AD, for unknown reasons. This beautiful city is now but a ruin, among its faded beauty is enough to brun the heart of the many tourists who have been visiting the location since 1997.Â

Today there remains little of the ancient pride of this once mighty city. But if you just close your eyes, you’ll here the rolling drums, the screams of the priest, and see the fiery eyes of the chief, with a little bit of imagination. Visit the Dark Jaguar, and experience the passion of its power.
