VISITING THE ETERNAL SPRING CITY OF CUERNAVACA July 29
Cuernavaca Morelos, “The city of the eternal spring”. Cuernavaca is well know because the kind of weather that the city has, besides that Cuernavaca is a charming colonial city. A lot of Cuernavaca’s architecture, gardens and attractions are hidden behind tall walls, inside houses and estates which host some marvelous scenes of perfectly preserved colonial life. Many of these houses are either hotels, spas, restaurants, or museums open to the public.
When we are in a city like Cuernavaca, whit a historical richness and some important tourist attractions, we don’t have the time to really know the city, for that reason in cuernavaca’s main zocalo you can find the Tourist Train, it offers you a tour around the city.The key attractions include The Cortez Palace, The Cathedral and The Jardin Borda.
The Cathedral, Cathedral the la Asuncion de Maria, one of the oldest church in Mexico, started in 1529 and completed in 1552. The city Zocalo (main plaza) host some magnificent architecture including The Plaza de Armas, Palacio de Gobierno and Palacio de Cortez now also know as Museum Cuauhnahuac.
Jardin Borda initially was a residence of the Taxco silver Baron, Jose de la Borda. The Emperor Maximilian made the location famous as his summer home in 1886.Now the Jardin Borda housing a Museum and a Restaurant, on a huge walled block in Cuernavaca, it is a must see.
There is a large community of American expatriates here , many come to enjoy the great climate and facilities. Cuernavaca can be a day trip from Mexico city, or part of colonial city tour, you can also stay here for a week, making it a base from which you can explore and discover Mexico’s southern region. So Cuernavaca it’s a good place to visit for a day, it’s a great place to stay and relax for longer.
