New Aztec structures keep being unearthed in mexico City these days, and the unearthing of razed by Cortes and his fellow conquistadores is the latest one. In March 2007, as construction workers were busy working in the Iztapalapa district of Mexico City, they uncovered what is now believed to be the lost remains of the main Aztec pyramid, destroyed in the 1500s by Hernan Cortes.
Until now, it was impossible to explore and dit this area because of the urban settlement on top of it. Five hundred years after Cuitlahuac, the chief of Iztapalapa, came close to annihilating Cortes and his troops, the city’s temple is once again seeing the light of the sun.
You can go and see all these marvellous structures and historic ruins with your own eyes. On top of the pleasure of exploring Mexico City as a touristic destination, you’ll love to breathe the poetic atmosphere of history and legend.
