Swine Flu: Truth beyond the hyperbole

tequila_whs

From what we read in the news, it would appear that the end of the world is nigh. Perhaps it is naive to expect any kind of restraint or sensibility from the news media when they are doing so much to give the whole world to doom and mayhem. But there’s no justification for the complete panic under the effect of which many are now regarding Mexico as the Devil’s Homeland. Rational, sensible people know the distinction between panic and prudence.  These days, however, knowledge and hearsay are equated with each other, as fear, and not reason, is the guiding principle of public behavior.

Mexico is where it was before the outbreak of the swine flu. This ancient nation has survived countless calamities before, and it will surely emerge from the recent scare just as strong, if not stronger than before.

You title this “Truth Beyond the Hyberole” and in your first sentence you state that the media is saying that “the end of the world is nigh.” Irony.

  3. Found your website on del.icio.us these days and extremely liked it… I bookmarked it and will be back to test it out some more later..
