The global economic turmoil was already threatening to hit Mexico hard when the swine flu scare doubled the troubles faced by the nation. There is even talk of banning all flights between Europe and Mexico, yet none of those nonsensical ideas is going to ensure a healthy existence to the the highly mobile citizens of Europe or the US.

Mexico has only recently sought help from the IMF in order to prop up its fundamentally robust economy. Will the swine flu deepen the crisis, and force the Mexican government to take even more drastic action to cushion the economy from the dangerous effects of the crisis? We suspect that it won’t, but nothing seems to be able to stop the turning of the rumor mill.

The whole world should now that this nation will not give up the gains of the last 6-7 years. The Mexico of today is not the ailing, weak, unstable nation of the past. Mexico has benefited from theglobal boom under the prudent leadership of the last decade, and a new culture, a new lifestyle, a new sense of national confidence all ensure that those who bet against Mexico will be crushed when the clouds that darken the future recede.
