If you are short on money but you still want to experience a fun Mexican vacation, consider the city of Chilpancingo.

Chilpancingo is far from a tourist hotbed but it does have a number of extremely inexpensive hotels.

The nice thing about Chilpancingo is it’s located in the mountains and for that reason has very good weather. In Chilpancingo, you can find a number of museums, shopping centers and even a zoo. If you want to visit a big city, Mexico City is only about three hours away by car. If you want to hit the beach, Acapulco is a one and a half hour car drive away.

El Diplomatico is a hotel in Chilpancingo that is clean and has very low rates. You can get a rate at this hotel starting at about $30 per night. For just a few more dollars per night, you could also stay at Alameda.

For about $50 per night, you can stay at two of the nicer hotels in town. Paradise Inn has clean rooms, friendly customer service and is located next to the shopping districts in town. Azul Plaza is decorated nicely and features a lot of genuine Mexican artwork throughout the premises.

Chilpancingo has a population of approximately 200,000 people. It’s definitely a working class town with outgoing and welcoming locals. The city, which is also known as Chilpancingo de los Bravo or just Ciudad Bravo, is truly a hidden gem that is perfectly situated to allow you to have fun in Mexico no matter what you want to do.
