San Felipe is a town in the municipality of Mexicali, about 190 km to the south of the US border. The town is located at the confluence of ecosystems. Temperature can range from 4 degrees in the winter to 46 degrees in the shade during the summer months, due to the conflicting impact of cooling sea breezes, and the hot of the desert.
The population of the town is just around fourteen thousand people according to the 2005 census, however, during the American holiday season, the influx of travellers increases the population temporarily by around 5000.
With its unusual location, small population, and interesting history, San Felipe is one of the rising suns of tourism in Mexico. Since the 1960′s, new hotels have been built regularly, and the trend is likely to strengthen in the future, as travellers from different nations discover the location.
