The Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is a United Nations Heritage site which is operated by a conservationists that include philanthropist, scientists, farmers and fishermen. The Mexican government considers this as a national park and it has been attracting many visitors since 1986.
Though this paradise is smaller, compared to other eco-sites in different parts of the world, Sian Ka’an serves as a fitting model for sustainable development, particularly when we’re talking about tropical environments.
The center hosts different tours for its visitors. The reserve has an abundant number of different flora and fauna species that its guests would really want to see. Believed to part of the Mayan civilization, the tours also help educate tourists on the importance of taking care of the environment and conserve its riches. Other than the this, the center also sponsors educational programs in different classes and areas in Riviera Maya, to beef up campaign about conserving this biosphere.
However, not everything about reserve is simply for learning, because the center also allows guests to go kayaking or enjoy other water activities around the area. Although emphasis is still given on being able to respect the enviroment around it, these activities also provide a one of a kind experience to tourists.
Sian Ka’an” by the way is Maya for “gift from the sky” and this place is truly worth something to treasure. A visit here is one unique experience to knowing and learning about Mexico.
