Visiting the Malecon Puerto Vallarta is a must-do when on a trip to Puerto Vallarta. Malecon, is Spanish, translates to ‘boardwalk’ and is basically a long stretch of walking area along the coast.
On a average walk down the Malecon Puerto Vallarta you can expect to see lots of life including plenty of locals enjoying the sea breeze, sculpture artists, street performers, toy vendors, delicious Mexican snacks and desserts. Depending on the time of day you’ll see different facets to the Malecon’s personality.
- During the day, expect lots of cruise ship tourists. It’s still OK but probably not the best time if you want to get charmed by the real Mexico.
- Early evening, which is in my opinion the BEST time to go, is when you’ll feel that you’re in the real Mexico away from anything that could be called a tourist-trip. Essentially you’ll be mixing in with the locals and you won’t believe the energy. You’ll feel like you’re at a Mexican party with really good vibes.
- At night, this strip also becomes the nightlife center of Puerto Vallarta, so if that’s your thing you now know where to find the parties.
Visiting the Malecon Puerto Vallarta is a romantic and authentic addition to any trip to Puerto Vallarta.
