San Blas, a small fishing town in the state of Nayarit is a treasure to behold. It is nestled in a swamp with jungles and mangroves that offers a natural habitat for snakes, crocodiles and birds. People come from all over North America to visit the Estuary, where migratory birds come all year round, and watch all kinds and species of birds. Several species are endemic to the area, meaning they can only be found in San Blas and so it’s no wonder tourists flock to the area to see this. It is also in this area where huge crocodiles, jaguars and boa constrictors said to abound.

Apart from these, San Blas also offers beautiful virgin beaches lined with palm trees. Going to San Blas would feel like hitting too many birds in one stone, pun intended.

Chacala: And Yet Another Beach

And yet another beautiful beach in mexico. It’s definitely one of the best things they can offer. Chacala is located in the city of Nayarit, about two hours north of Puerto Vallarta. A picturesque seascape, it has wide expanse of beautiful sandy beaches with gentle slopes, palm tree lines that sway to the breeze, the water doesn’t get too warm or cold no matter what the season is. Like all other small tourist destinations, Chacala is mainly a fishing town. The locals also get by putting up beachside restos called palapa, a structure of a tent made of palm roofs and twigs where they serve seafood delights like tuna, shrimp, lobsters, fresh oysters and matching margarita, tequila or ice cold beer.

In Chacala, it is easy to forget time and just relish the relaxing ambience and cool breeze the place can offer.

La Peñita de Jaltemba Nayarit

La Penita de Jaltemba in Nayarit is a seaside community approximately 65 kilometers north of the airport Diaz Ordaz in Puerta Vallarta. This charming town of about 10,000 residents enjoy the pristine and almost exclusive beach to themselves. A fishing community, it thrives in the attention of foreigners beguiled and smitten by its charm. It is more considered as a retirement place more than a short vacation getaway destination. In fact, there is a growing population of retired Canadians in the area. The locals are friendly and kind-hearted and their community embody the authentic mexican culture and tradition. There are also a number of hotels and resorts that can accommodate tourists who prefer a quiet and not-so-crowded destinations. A few decent restaurants are also available in the area.

Along the bay is a turtle sanctuary where turtles come and nest their eggs from late summer to December. You might want to time your visit between these period to see and experience this.

Mexico’s Beautiful Bahia de Banderas

Bahia de Banderas is the bay where you will find the famous tourist destination, Puerto Vallarta. The area affords over 42 miles of beaches and all the fantastic aquatic fun you can have in the ocean. The bay is one of the deepest in Mexico, at a depth of 3000 feet, and is the third largest natural bay in Mexico. It makes the list of one of the world’s largest bays as well.

The area is known for dolphin sitings, as well as, sea turtles, huge manta rays and many exotic fish. For this, it is a favorite spot among scuba enthusiasts and snorkelers as well. The Islas Marietas, a tiny island chain right off the coast, is home to several exotic birds, including the Blue Footed Booby.

With eco-minded travel becoming the hot trip idea, many are visiting this gorgeous coastal community because of it’s whale watching adventures. The area is both the breeding and birthing grounds for the Humpback Whale. These intriguing and breathtaking adventures take place beginning the first week of December and run through the end of March. While Whale watching season is only about four months, there are several tours and excursions for you to choose from.

The bay is composed of land belonging to both mexican states of Jalisco and Nayarit. While the municipal seat is Valle de Banderas, the area is composed of several cities including Jarretaderas, San Juan de Abajo, Bucerias, San Jose de Valle, and San Vincente.

The geological make up of the area, including a valley, create a wonderful opportunity for agriculture and livestock. The valley holds man cattle farms while abundant crops of corn, bean, rice and exotic fruits contribute to commerce. The fishing industry thrives along the coast both for local stocking and the tourist trade. The area offers a plenitude of tourist attractions, but also holds on to traditional culture and lifestyles that many visitors find so alluring.

The San Cristobal river offers a striking journey into the enchanting and gorgeous world of mexico. Starting early in the morning tours offer a marvelous view of the rising sun and a better chance of meeting some of the most amazing and beautiful creatures of Mexico. The area also holds on to the glory of Mexico’s indigenous people who still live along the banks in thatched-roof homes on stilts.

Tour guides are known for taking extra time to ensure an entertaining tour and are more than happy to slow down to show riders the things only locals have a trained eye for.

The area boasts an amazing collection of birds that enjoy the expansive trees and grand collection of fish, insects and rodents to feed on. Bring binoculars to get an up close view of these majestic and even comical animals who have grown accustom to humans, but still remain a safe distance from travelers.

The area offers a perfect adventure just waiting for the avid adventurer or passive visitor. Wildlife encounters are sure to please children, as well as, parents while photographers have a field day with the candid shots to be taken along the journey. The San Blas Jungle River Tour offers a great trip for about $60 per person. It’s a great idea to bring sunscreen, bug repellent, water, a towel and pesos. There are a few shops in town that may beckon tourists, but pesos are a must for payment. A swimsuit may also be a smart addition to your wardrobe as it is likely to get wet during your travels. The trip is sure to bring a smile or two to any visitor looking for a glimpse into the jungles of Mexico.

Mystical Mexcaltitan Captivates Visitors with Wildlife and Beauty

Within mexico’s state of Nayarit lies a bayou-like atmosphere that indulges visitors in a trip to another world. Surrounding the island city of Mexcaltitan, lies an immense swamp with an amazing collection of creatures big and small. Beautified with exotic orchids, plants and mangroves, the surrounding lagoons, lakes and streams are an ecosystem bursting with life.

Amidst the Mangrove and other over hanging plants hide fishes, snakes, crocodiles and turtles. Along the shore, ocelots can be spotted early in the morning carefully walking near crocodiles basking in the bright morning sun. The area is very popular with birdwatchers as it is very common to see the many bold and beautiful species abundant in the area.

Boat tours are available to take you through the jungles and guides are very knowledgeable and happy to help visitors locate wildlife, as well as, plants. Make sure to let them know your interests since they will often slow down the craft to identify species and patiently insure that the perfect photographic shots are taken.

The swaps around Nayarit are bountiful in exotic flora and fauna, and the people in and around the city of Mexcaltitan are known for being extremely friendly and patient with visitors. While the city is old and well worn, you will instantly feel at ease with the safe and amiable environment. Nayarit is an expanisive area of interesting landscape, but if possible, try to visit the city of Mexcaltitan. The people work hard to help visitors not only enjoy their visitis, but make sure they have the time of their lives.

Nuevo vallarta is not to be confused with Puerto Vallarta. This nice and new resort town has its personal beauty and it offers visitors an exciting and at the same time relaxing time. This Resort town is located in the state of Nayarit which borders the state of Jalisco where Puerto Vallarta is. It is actually a few miles away from Puerto vallarta so you can come and visit both towns. The town of Nuevo vallarta has everything you need to enjoy your vacations. It has modern hotels, most of them with an all-inclusive plan, fancy as well as cheap restaurants, night clubs, and shops.

Nuevo Vallarta also offers visitors a variety of places to stay besides hotels. There are condos for rent and villas, some of which are right on the beach. The scenery of the place is absolutely wonderful. the town is surrounded by lush vegetation, rivers, and an amazing lagoon. All of this can really give you a feeling of peace and tranquility. This Town also has a great potential for growth, just in case you are thinking of investing.

As far as entertainment, let me tell you that Nuevo Vallarta has it all. It has exciting water sports, eco-tourism, whale watching, and even a visit to a turtle reserve. The place also offers a beautiful and well kept golf course designed and developed by Jack Nicklaus and Robert Von Hass. If you are interested in any of these activities that the place offers, you can always find a tourist office or get information from your hotel about times and places. Your hotel might even help you arrange some of these tours.

If you are looking for excitement and not relaxation, then you shouldn’t miss the night clubs or discos this place offers. even though you won’t find as much nightlife as in Puerto vallarta, Nuevo vallarta has its own charm when it comes to clubbing. El Puerto de San Blas is a popular tourist destination located about 100 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, in the state of Nayarit. The economy of this small town is based on agriculture, fishing, and tourism. If you are looking to stay away from the more common tourist-filled mexican beaches, San Blas is a very good and popular choice.

San Blas has several attractive beaches which have been kept safe because the area doesn’t receive as many visitors as other resort towns. The Area is also known among birders for its abundance of migratory birds, attracting a significant numbers of bird watchers. The town is also a gateway to the La Tovara park, an extensive mangrove forest and protected nature reserve accessed only by small boats. Due to its location and surroundings, this area is abundant in birds, bugs, and crocodiles.

San Blas is an ideal place for those in search of calm, delicious local food, sport fishing and waves that are perfect for surfing. Eco-tourism enthusiasts can come into contact with nature and its fascinating animal life. The place also lends itself to evenings spent sitting round a bonfire. Its natural attractions include the El Rey, El Borrego, and Las Islitas beaches, as well as Bahia de Matachen, Los Cocos, Playa Miramar, and Aticama, which once served as refuge for pirates and buccaneers.

As in any other beach town in mexico, San Blas has plenty of places where you can spend the night, but don’t expect to find nice and luxurious resorts.
