Manzanillo is a port city in the western Mexican state of Colima. With a population of around a hundred thousand people, Manzanillo is not one of the largest cities in Mexico. But the port of the city is the busiest in the country, and is also home to the Mexican Navy’s Fuerza Naval del Pacifico (Pacific Navy). It also hosts a sailfish fishing tournament each year.

The town is well known internationally as a deep sea fishing port. Although the airport is small, it has been renovated recently, and is better able to service the large numbers of tourists visiting the place each year.

Manzanillo is calm, peacful, but also beautiful and energetic. If you plan to visit Mexico, and would like to explore a location that is still left unattended by the tourism industry, Manzanillo may be your best choice.

Las Hadas translates to the fairies and Las Hadas Resort in Manzanillo, Colima looks very much like a fairyland. Upon entering the area by sea it is obvious why the name was chosen. This beautiful place resides seaside off the coast of the Pacific Ocean where striking blue waves meet cozy warm beaches. The white buildings stand in contrast to the blue sky and ocean creating a delightful Mediterranean meets Mexico vibe.

The deep blue water of the area becomes even more animated in the evening as phosphorescent organisms o illuminate the waves creating a very magical feel. The local beaches boast pristine white sands with year round warm water to bask in Mexico’s gorgeous sunshine.

While poolside entertainment is quite the choice, there are several local attractions worth a visit. The Colima Volcano, Colima Archeological Museum and Slorenia Cave are all must sees that are sure to keep the whole family entertained.

There is much to see and do in and around Manzanillo with appealing architectural details and striking color partnerships decorating buildings and tile work around town. Some of Mexico’s most amazing beaches are found around Colima, and all the aquatic fun of scuba diving, snorkeling and beach combing can be enjoyed along its Mexican coastline.

Beaches of Manzanillo (photo by D Guisinger courtesy of Wikipedia)

Of course, as found all over Mexico, food in the area represents the livelihood of the locals. Seafood is the choice fare for tourists, as well as Manzanillo residents. Fresh from the Tuna ports or hot off the deep sea tours, fresh catches of the day produce some of the most amazing dishes at local restaurants and eateries.

Off the coast (photo by D Guisinger courtesy of Wikipedia)

Manzanillo is a stunning costal city with wonderful attractions that are sure to appeal to every family member. Whether shopping at the market or enjoying the life under the sea, Manzanillo is sure to provide the perfect escape for your next vacation.

Costa Careyes is a tropical community located on Highway 200 – an hour north of Manzanillo, Mexico, and 2 ½ hours south of Puerto Vallarta. This special place was created by Gian Franco Brigione, and is one of the world’s hotspots for celebrities and VIPs.

The Careyes area is filled with high-class resorts, golf courses, islands, the Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere, and the Church of San Mateo. Tourists visit Careyes year-round because it always has perfect weather. The temperatures throughout the year range from the mid-60°s to the low 80°s. Costa Careyes stays pretty dry during the year – raining about 30 out of 365 days.

Guests of Costa Careyes can stay at numerous castles, villas, casitas, and bungalows. The castles cost about $5,000+ per night, and are staffed with maids, a chef, and a butler. The villas, also fully staffed, cost $2,000+ per night. The casitas, equipped with kitchens and maid service, cost $280+ per night. Each of the casitas includes access to pools, Jacuzzis and gardens. They are also nearby the Playa Rosa beach club. The bungalows, for $240+ a night, are located right on the beach. Guests are welcome to enjoy the splendors of the Careyes bay and dine at the Playa Rosa restaurant

All visitors are encouraged to enjoy the wonders of the Careyes Bay. Some of the many activities include ocean kayaking, surfing, scuba diving, fishing, and snorkeling. Visit careyes.com.mx for more information.
