Isla Mujeres is an island town on the Yucatan Coast of Mexico. Popular with tourists. It is possible to reach the island by taking a ferry from Puerto Cancun or Puerto Juarez. There are numerous hotels on the island, reaching from the modest pension, to the expensive international ones. But everyone will be able to find a package that will suit his desires and expectations.
The island is named Isla Mujeres by the Spanish after the conquest due to the large number of statues dedicated to the Maya Moon Goddess, Ix Chel. Until 1988 a small Maya temple had survived at the southern tip of the island, but it was destroyed by Hurrican Gilbert, and today on the foundations of the structure remain, along with a few traces of the building scattered here and there.
The place has a poetic and nostalgic atmosphere to itself, and the visitor may soon find himself captivated by the misty, eery beauty of the location
