Standing in the distance of the arid Punta Chueca rises the gorgeous and expansive Tiburon Island. This treasure of Mexico is the country’s largest island and holds an immense and impressive collection of botany and wildlife.

photo from www.bestday.com

The island become a natural reserve in 1963 by President Mateos and in 1975 the local Seri Tribe were given the title of communal property to the area. While the island is now uninhabited, save for the military installation on the East side, permits are granted for day trips and overnight stays. The Seri Indians are hoping hunting will soon be allowed on the Island as Bighorn sheep were recently introduced to the area.

The channel between the mainland and the island is called Hell’s Channel, Canal del Infiernillo, and has become the story maker for many fishermen and adventure-seeking tourists. The shady name comes from the quite difficult tidal currents and sand bar that make navigation quite a task, but also quite invigorating for the avid sailor.

photo from High On Adventures

The area is a luxury for outdoor enthusiasts offering pristine beaches and amazing ecological finds. Because of the preservation status of the area, much of the land stands as it was thousands of years ago. The land of Tiburon Island rises from the ocean offering a total escape from Mexico’s mainland. The flora and fauna exhibit the harsh qualities that have allowed for the survival of this ecosystem. Tiburon Island stands as a modern marvel of Mexico’s ancient history that still inspires today.

Chapala Lake it is about 50 miles long and 10 miles wide, and it is located in Jalisco and Michoacan states. It is the largest lake in Mexico and set in a depression on the central plateau. Lake Chapala is fed by the lerma river, which flows out by the northeastern corner. It is a popular scenic Resort. Since the early 1950s the waters have been resending at an alarming rate and the lake is rapidly becoming choked with water hyacinths, studies have been initiated to determinate an effective conservation program.

Lake Chapala is important economically for tourism, recreation and fishing. The Lake also supports around 80 species of migratory birds and a few endemic species found only in this area. With its pleasant climate and delightful setting in a circle of low, sparsely vegetated hill, the lake has attracted many American and Canadians expatriates, also has become a very desirable place for retirees, those waiting to escape aspects of home such as the winter weather, and those who desire to live and work in Mexico.

Although the water can occasionally become very polluted, making swimming impossible, a rich variety of water-sports can usually be enjoyed. Carp, mojarra, catfish, and withe fish are among the edible fish found, in the lake. The activities that you can enjoy in Chapala lake are, boating, sailing, water craft activities, fishing and swimming. But you do not have to be an active or sports-minded person to enjoy chapala because you will also find numerous restaurants, open-air cafes, and ice-cream parlors in which to spend some relaxing time in company of your family or friends.

If you are a luxury traveler who expects the finer things in life, Mexico has a lot of different options for you. One of the highest-rated luxury resorts in all of Mexico is called Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita.

As you know if you’ve visited any Four Seasons hotel, Four Seasons has a reputation of operating amazingly luxurious resorts all over the world. What separates Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is the breathtaking surrounding landscape, the exceptionally nice people and the number of available activities in the area.

Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is located on the beach, about 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. The rooms in this resort are immaculately decorated and every room has a great view. You’ll be close enough to the big city if you want to go shopping or go to a nightclub, while at the same time being far away enough to get some peace and quiet.

Activities available in the area include golf, tennis, water sports and even an on-site museum. The local golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is spread over approximately 200 acres. The water sports that are available include scuba diving, water skiing, surfboarding and deep sea fishing.

You should expect to pay at least $400 per night if you plan to stay at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. If you can afford that price tag, you will no doubt have the vacation of your life while being pampered beyond belief!
