Barra de Navidad is a town in the eastern Mexican State of Jalisco. Unlike the many other touristic destinations which have been developed in recent times, Barra de Navidad has been a relatively important location on the western coast of Mexico since the very early days of European settlement.
During the 16th centur, Barra de Navidad was used a jumping point for Spanish galleons sailing to the Philippines, and also for shibuilding and repairs. Due to its favorable location, it was used as an entrepot for Spanish operations in the Pacific area.
Today Barra de Navidad is developing rapidly, as new hotels and touristic resorts are built to exploit the pristine and rich environment of the location. It is still lesser known location, and for those who seek a beautiful yet virgin destination for their vacations, Barra de Navidad may prove to be the perfect choice.
