Bringing Medication When Traveling to Mexico

If you are in medication, and you are traveling abroad or in mexico, you need to carry a letter from your attending physician describing your medical condition and the prescription medications that includes the generic names of the prescribed drugs you bring and you need. Any medications being carried overseas or in Mexico City should be left in their original containers and be clearly labeled.

If you are wearing eyeglasses, make sure to take an extra pair with you, unless you want to buy an extra in Mexico. Pack medicines in your hand luggage so they will be available in case your checked luggage is lost. Pack a backup supply of medicines and an additional pair of eyeglasses in your checked luggage.

If you have an allergies, or adverse reaction to certain medications, insect bites, or foods, consider wearing a medical alert bracelet. You may wish to carry a letter from your physician explaining the required treatment in case you become ill.
