VISITING THE TOWN OF APIZACO - TLAXCALA October 20
Apizaco is located in the state of Tlaxcala. The city’s name comes from the Nahuatl language and it means “thin water place”. The population of Apizaco is of about 49,459. The city is the second largest in the sate of Tlaxcala in population and it’s a very touristic town in the smallest state of the Mexican Republic.
The city began because of its location on this railroad. The city is on the middle of the trip from Mexico city to the Port of Veracruz by railroad. The city is the second in importance after the capital city, Tlaxcala. Because of its location between the two cities of Mexico and Veracruz, It is of mayor commercial and trade value to the state of Tlaxcala. Something for which the city is liked by many is its pleasant weather. The city’s weather is temperate and arid. The temperature in winter can fall below 0 C, and in the summer, it can reach in excess of 30 c. but it never feels extremely cold nor hot.
Many business people from different places come to Apizaco to work in the many factories in the surrounding area. For that reason we can say that Apizaco is a business destination. Having this in mind, there are several hotel set up to accommodate the business travelers to the city. Among them is Hotel Del Angel, which is known for an indoor pool and a cozy bar, making it great for vacationers as well as business travelers. Most of the hotels in Apizaco have restaurants or are located close to restaurants.
This city has several attractions, but the main attraction is The Gothic style Basilica de la Virgen de la Misericordia, built with gray quarry stone. Apizaco has different regional festivals. One of them and the most famous is the Regional feast of Apizaco, which is celebrated in May with an agricultural and industrial exhibition, folk dances, bull fights and other activities.
