Punta Allen in the Mayan Riviera is another quiet and relaxing little fishing village. It is located in the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve about 2 1/2 hour drive from Tulum. To make this trip, you will need to have durable transportation such as a jeep, this is because the road to Punta Allen is very rutted. Driving through this road might sound tiring and boring but I guarantee that driving through the Sian Kaan Biosphere reserve is a really nice experience. On the way, you will be able to see incredible beaches, pristine mangrove estuaries, and amazing wildlife. To make this trip, I strongly recommend that you take plenty of drinking water and snacks, a camera, binoculars, and beach clothes.
There are different things you can do in this little fishing village. there are different services and tours offered. Among them are: fly fishing trips, snorkeling, and eco-tours. You can also spend a relaxing day at the beach or swim in crystal clear waters. When it comes to eating, you don’t have to worry about it because there are several restaurants that offer anything from a good breakfast to a tasty dinner. What about spending a night or two in this village? sure you can do that. there are also a few places where you can stay, so if you are thinking of doing that, I will recommend that you spend some time looking at the different options there are. You can find cheap guest house rooms, beach front cabañas, and you might even find one or two home or condo rentals.
So if you happen to visit the Mexican Mayan Riviera, take some time to visit this amazing little fishing village. I’m really sure you will enjoy it very much and you will have a truly amazing experience.

Along the coast in the Mayan Riviera you can also find many nice hidden beaches that not many people know about, perhaps only the locals. One of these is a beach called x-cacel. this beach is located between Playa del Carmen andTulum. It’s located right next to the town of Akumal. It’s kind of hard to find this beach because there is no sign for it, but if you ask some of the locals at Akumal, they will be able to tell you where it is.
the reason why I recommend this beach is because it is always empty. you can have a nice picnic with your family right on the beach. You can also swim and it’s pretty safe even for the kids. If you like to snorkle this is a good place to do it beacuse the reef is not to far from the shore. If you are fortunate, you might be able to see some turtles or sting rays, but for sure you will be able to see lots of colorful fish.
There is also a season when the turtles come to hatch and if you come at night, you can help the authorities guarding the beach to release the baby turtles into the sea.
There is also a nice “cenote” or fresh water natural pool where you can go to get rid of the sand and the salty water after you are done swimming in the sea. You don’t need to pay for this cenote nor the beach but to find the cenote you need to ask. that is because the cenote is kind of hidden in the jungle. Don’t worry it’s safe and it will take you about 10 minutes to get to it.
So remember if you want to relax and spendsometime with your family or friends without too many people, try this nice and isolated beach.

The riviera maya is also famous for the “cenotes” (natural water pools) . There are many of these pools all over the state of Quintana Roo. Some of these cenotes are near the ocean and others are more inland. You can also find cenotes inside some caves. Actually the state of Quintana Roo has the largest undergound river in the world and this is the place where some movies have been filmed.
There are some Cenotes that you can swim for free, but in most of them you have to pay, specially the best ones. If you are an adventurous person and like to scuba dive inside caves, you should try a place called hidden worlds. This place is located near the ruins of Tulum. I have been there also and it is a wonderful and at the same time scary experience, even tought I only went there to snorkle and not scuba dive. So next time you come to the Mayan Riviera, don’t forget to visit the “Cenotes”.

The ruins of Chichen Itza are the most visited by tourist in the whole country. They are located in the state of Yucatan bordering the state of Quintana Roo. In order to get there you can take an airplane to the city of Merida which has an international airport, or if you happen to be in Cancun, you can drive or take a bus. If you decide to drive, it will only take you a few hours to get there.
These Mayan ruins are famous worldwide and are now being considered as a strong candidate to become one of the new seven wonders in the world. The reason why people come to Chichen Itza is because it is really a magical place. The time of the year when most people come here is in the spring, especially during the equinox. This is because during this time the reflection of the sun in the stairs of the Kukulcan temple creates a shadow with the form of a snake coming down the stairs. Others come in this time to meditate and absorb energy which they believe abounds during this period of time.
There are different things you can do when you visit this place. Besides walking around looking at the different pyramids and taking pictures, Chichen Itza has a few restaurants where you can try the typical mayan food. I also recommend that you visit the beautiful big “Cenote” (fresh water natural pool) that you can find near the place. Since it is always very hot in this place, you should take light clothes, such as shorts, a t-shirt, and a hat. Once you have toured the place I strongly recommend that you refresh yourself swimming at the ”Cenote”. I guarantee it will be a great experience for you.
