PUERTO ANGEL-OAXACA MEXICO

puerto-angel-oaxaca-mex6.jpg

Puerto Angel is located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, in the state of Oaxaca. It is accessible via coastal highway 200 from Acapulco Gerrero and Puerto Escondido to the north-west, and Huatulco to the south-east.

In the past the village was an important shipping port for the coffee growers of the area, and its small protected bay provides safe harbor today for many. The town has a population of only about 12,000 inhabitants, and the pace of life is slow and peaceful.

Puerto Angel has only 3 beaches, Playa Principal, Playa Panteon and Playa Zipolite. Playa Principal is located in the town beach. In the mornings one can watch the fishermen bringing in their catch. Fishing is excellent in the area, and fishermen regularly bring in tuna, red snapper and sailfish as well as lobster and octopus.

Playa Panteon, is located at the west end of the beach on a paved walkway curves along the rock cliffs, It is named for the cemetery located nearby, the beach is suitable for swimming but playa panteon is perhaps a little more sheltered and offers better snorkeling around the rocks.

Playa Zipolite is located 4 miles to the west over a narrow secondary road. Zipolite became popular as a nude beach in the 70’s when its mile long solitary beach was visited only by adventurous campers. But now it is a much larger community with a series of restaurants and cafes along the sand, elegant tropical residences and even telephone and Internet service. The beach is on an open ocean and care should be taken in the strong surf and undertow. It is still frequented by backpackers and campers.

Puerto Angel, has different kinds of hotels, one of them is Villa La Luna, located at the top of a hill in Puerto Angel. It is the nicest accommodation in the area. Villa La Luna is a combination of Mexican style and French commodities. The Hotel offers you private bath and terrace for each room, sweeping ocean views, pool, Jacuzzi, air conditioned, sky TV and even a garage.

The small beachfront restaurants all serve delicious, fresh seafood prepare just as you like it. Remember this is a fishing village, so fresh fish comes in each morning.

Dia del Pescador (Fisherman’s Day) is an important celebration in Puerto Angel and it’s celebrated on August 5th. Festivities include music, a foot race, swimming, fishing and boating competitions and land sports tournaments. Awards are given at the end of the day to the winners of the various competitive activities.

CARRIZALILLO OAXACA MEXICO

carrizalillo-oaxaca-mexico.jpg

Calm waters due to its southern exposure make Playa Carrizalillo a fine beach for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is accessed by a stone stairway of 180 steps.

The dark area of water is a shelf of coral extending out from the north shore of the bay, which means some really nice snorkeling among pretty fish and sometimes even dolphins can be seen.

This beach is not as crowded as the other better known beaches in Puerto Escondido. It is a great place to snorkel, swim and relax on the beach. Swimmers and kids of all ages will enjoy the calm waves along with those learning to surf. There are Restaurants, most with hammocks, where fresh fish, shrimp and lobster can be eaten. This type of dishes can be eaten fresh because local fishermen catch lobsters and oysters right before your eyes.

Another attraction that you can enjoy in this beach is the Banana. This is a large inflatable tube, pulled behind a motor boat, for 5 dollars you can go on a 15 minute ride.

Villas Carrizalillo Hotel makes for an ideal location to host small weddings and special events such as family reunions, business retreats and other group retreats. The Hotel has nine villas, all with a private bathroom and kitchen. This Hotel also has a Bar, a Restaurant, Internet and an outdoor swimming pool.

LA QUEBRADA-ACAPULCO-MEXICO

acapulco-mexico11.jpg

This famous tourist attraction takes place in the beautiful resort city of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero. Most tourists enjoy going to see this show in the evening because they not only enjoy the diving show but they also enjoy the beautiful sunset.

So what happens at La Quebrada? Divers entertain tourists by diving off the 45 meter (148 feet) high cliff. The divers must calculate the right moment to jump to catch an incoming wave. At night, it is even more spectacular because they dive carrying torches on both hands. World championships are also held at La Quebrada every year. Show times are usually five times a day, at 12:45 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:30 pm, 9:30 pm, and 10:30 pm.

Another interesting way in which you can watch this show is by taking a boat from the main bay of Acapulco. This boat will take you to La Quebrada and you will be even closer to see the divers. Those kinds of tours might include food and drinks for one price.

This is a show I really recommend because the whole family can enjoy, and because it is here, the only place where you can find this kind of show.

HUATULCO-MEXICO VACATIONS

huatulco-mexico.jpg

This resort city, Huautulco, is located in the state of Oaxaca, approximately 500 Km. south of Acapulco Guerrero. It is Mexico’s newest resort and It is also still relatively uncrowded and unspoiled.

The bays of Huatulco are actually made of a series of 9 bays called, Bahia de Santa Cruz, Bahia Chahue, Bahia Tangolunda, Bahia Conejos, Bahia Maguey, Bahia Organo, Bahia Cacaluta, Bahia Chachacual, and Bahia San agustin. Huautulco also has other 36 beaches with soft white sand and crystal clear water.

A good example of this is my favorite beach located in the Santa cruz Bay. This beach is called Playa la Entrega, and it is the best beach to snorkel because of the coral reef which is not too far from the shore. If you are a snorkeling lover like myself, you could spend a very good time here. There is no need for you to bring your snorkeling gear because you can rent it at the beach for only $5 dollars and you can use it all day. there are also a few restaurants on the beach where you can eat fresh and delicious seafood at a very reasonable price.

When it comes to places where you can stay, there is also a great variety of hotels and resorts. Among them are: Quinta Real Hotel, Barcelo Hotel, Las Brisas Hotel, and the Gala Resort. There is also a Trailer Park conveniently located on playa Tangolunda. The location is quiet and devoid of traffic as well as very well shaded. There are also showers and restrooms adjacent to the parking area.

Visiting La Paz, Mexico

La Paz, Mexico is becoming more and more of a tourist destination. Located in Baja California, La Paz has a population of around 200,000. With tourism being the city’s number one source of income, La Paz happily will open its arms to tourists.

The main attraction for those who visit La Paz is its world class marinas. If you love water, you will love La Paz. All types of water related adventures can be had in the sea outside of La Paz.

La Paz Mexico

Additionally, many tourists are attracted by the seemingly always good weather, the low cost of living and the friendly locals. Since La Paz isn’t a very big city, it has a much different feel than other touristy towns in Mexico. It’s also a relatively safe city filled with over 500 years of history.

If you are staying in La Paz, one of the best places to say is Hotel Los Arcos. Located close to both the water and downtown, this colonial-style building looks beautiful on both the outside and the inside. With very reasonable prices and a number of amenities, Hotel Los Arcos is the preferred hotel by many of the tourists who visit La Paz.

The Lure of Acapulco

The Lure of Acapulco

Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico-One of the most popular vacation destinations in Mexico since the 1920’s. The city attracts all people from honeymooners, spring-breakers, to the rich and famous. With weather always around 85 degrees, this beach is know for having nearly perfect weather.

There are a variety of beaches available. The bay features calm warm water with yellow grainy sand. While there are stretches of white sand beaches with shallow water to relax in. Pichilingue Bay and Roqueta Island are great places to scuba dive and cruise on your yacht. There are also plenty of beach activities such as water skiing and parasailing.

But it is the Nightlife that Acapulco is the main attraction for many of the tourists that flock there. Disco clubs, bars, and plenty of restaurants abound on the main strip in the city. The must-sees of Acapulco, however, are the La Quebrada Cliff Divers and the museum in the San Diego Fort. The Cliff Diver shows run about six times a day and is a great to see while the sun is setting. The Fuerte de San Diego has many artifacts showing Mexico’s wealthy history. You can even spend a day here while your cruise ship docks on the beach! Make sure to plan your next travel vacation for Acapulco Mexico.

Cabo San Lucas - Playa del Amante

Cabo San Lucas - Playa del AmanteCabo San Lucas isn’t just a spring break destination, it’s also a great place for a family vacation or for a romantic getaway.

Head to the beautiful beaches of Cabo where you can snorkel, parasail, fish or just lay on the beach all day drinking cocktails. One of my favorite places to go in Cabo is the hidden cover of Playa del Amante (Lover’s Beach).

You can hire a water taxi at the marina and have them take you out to Playa del Amante. Here is where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. You can be dropped off on Lover’s Beach and explore the beauty of this area, then have the water taxi pick you back up later in the day.

Don’t try to swim on the Pacific side at Playa del Amante - the currents are strong. Keep your water activities on the Sea of Cortez side.

If you don’t want to spend the day lounging at the beach, there’s a lot of other stuff happening in Cabo San Lucas. While in Cabo, you can also go whale watching, spend a day golfing, or eat at one of the main fine restaurants. Cabo San Lucas isn’t just about partying. It’s actually one of the top vacation areas in all of Mexico.
