It’s perfect, the seclusion, the weather, the water and the sand. Mix it all up and you have the perfect beach hideaway. Yelapa is a very special destination located near Puerto Vallarta and can be reached by water taxi for a mere 120 pesos. There is a road, but it is only used to bring in supplies. Boat is the sole means of arrival and departure to and from this paradise.

The area has all the traditional beach fun including some locals, like the Willet above, that are sure to make your visit delightful. Walks along the beach are exquisite and hikes into the surrounding areas offer adventure and fun. Most visitors simply enjoy a lazy cruise on the calm water under the perfectly beautiful Mexican sun.
Seclusion does not mean void of comfort though. There are delicious restaurants to enjoy, horse rentals to experience and the local moonshine, Raicilla, to be enjoyed. Yelapa also enjoys the seasonal and occasional visits from many artists and musicians. You, too, can enjoy listening to and viewing their art in Yelapa’s intriguing and inspiring environment or work on your own creations.
Yelapa can be enjoyed for the day or for a longer visit. There are several rentals available on the beach, inland and up the river. The area is simply beautiful and requires very little planning. It is a wonderful place for those who simply want a breather away from the hustle and bustle or for those looking for a more subdued Mexican beach experience. It is definitely worth a visit when in Jalisco.
