When visiting the Mexico City area, don’t miss out on Chapultepec Park. Chapultepec, meaning “Grasshopper Hill,” is a hill in the outer areas of central Mexico City. The park is over 1800 acres of land that houses many forests, several small lakes, and areas that have been altered for outdoor cafes.

There are many attractions to visit in Chapultepec, such as Chapultepec Zoo and Chapultepec Castle which holds the Natural History Museum. There are many other museums in the Chapultepec region as well which include the Modern Art Museum, Tamayo Contemporary Art Museum and the Papalote’s Children Museum.

Chapultepec Hill also provides an amusement park called La Feria Chapultepec Mágico. There are also many performances of Aztec and Mayan rituals and dances that are performed at the park in large open areas for the public to see free and at their convience.

Chapultepec Park is an excellent place to visit; it provides a wide array of activities and places to see and explore. It also houses some of the finest artifacts and art of Mesoamerican culture. You can spend a whole day and still not be finished with all that Chapultepec Park has to offer.

THE BIRTH PLACE OF THE MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE, DOLORES HIDALGO

You can reach the beautiful city of Dolores Hidalgo by the federal highway 110 in the state of Guanajuato Mexico, place where Miguel Hidalgo proclaimed Mexico’s Independence.

Pre-hispanic artifacts such as ceramic and stone instrument have been discovered in the area surrounding the city of Dolores Hidalgo. On September 16, 1810, Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla gave the ¨Cry for Independence¨ which began the uprising against the Spanish, thus, the city of Dolores Hidalgo became known as ¨The Cradle of National Independence¨. Father Hidago y Costilla also helped developed local industry, such as Ceramics, Carpentry and Textiles.

Among the tourist attractions that you will find are: The Hidalgo Monument. This bronze monument was erected on September 16, 1891 in honor of the Father of Mexican Independence, Miguel Hidalgo. This sculpture was designed by Miguel Noreña, who was a sculptor and teacher at the school of fine arts.The Church of the third order. This small church is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to 1755. The facade of the church is Baroque style.

This historic city in Mexico is visited by many tourist because of its historic sites and because of its architecture. VISITING THE CITY OF CELAYA, GUANAJUATO

Celaya is located in the southeast quadrant of the state of Guanajuato and it is the third most populous city in the state. The city of Celaya is an important road and rail junction. It is the center of a rich agricultural region and its industries include textiles, flour milling, and tanning, and the city also has distilleries. The city of Celaya has several baroque churches designed by the architect Francisco de Tresguerras who was born here.

Tourist attractions that visitors should know in Celaya include the mummy museum, located in the old cemetery, it has a permanent exhibition of 22 mummified corpses. Celaya is also distinguished by the water tower that has become the symbol of the city. This tower was inaugurate of the twentieth century due to the celebrations of the first 100 years of the beginning of Mexico’s Independence War.

But besides history in Celaya you will also find some fun, for example in May, the fair of the tree and the flower is hosted by the Business women club of the city. The fair of El Carmen is celebrated in July and it gathers families to spend wonderful time enjoying food and games for everyone. Celaya is also well known in the Country for its high  quality candies and creams, especially the so named cajeta, made of milk, which is delicious  and can be tasted in different flavors, such as vanilla, pine nut, or coconut. So as you can see Celaya is for all kind of people.

RAPELLING THE PENA DE BERNAL PEAK IN QUERETARO

At the getaway to Sierra Gorda, rising up is the peak of San Bernal (La Pena de Bernal), a gigantic 350 meters high rock, the third highest in the  world. Pena de Bernal is located is San Sebastian Bernal, a small town in the Mexican state of Queretaro. This rock is said to bring the inhabitants on the town a long life, the average life span of Bernal residents is said to be a staggering 94.7 years.

This enormous rock constitutes the setting element between the indigenous communities of the region and the encounter point with the meztizo society that erected the village of Bernal placed on the valleys and more fertile plazas towards the south and the Occident of this axial point of the territory. The rock of Bernal is a intrusive ingenious formation, it was exposed at a time, by way of a great monolith, by virtue of long processes of natural elements and erosion,which underlies in tuneless form to a sequence riolitic volcanic of tertiary age. For its height, it is considered the third higher monolith of the world, reason for which is not so difficult to understand its place like significant landmark in the regional landscape.

The characteristics of this rock, unique in the country, grant it a considerable attractiveness, no only for the villagers, but also for the growing number of visitors that arrive to the place. Those of a more adventurous nature will find magnificent natural landscapes for rappelling, mountain climbing, scaling or extreme sports, for that adrenaline rush and a unique experience to boot, climb the monolith Pena de Bernal and admire the beautiful view of the city of Queretaro.

VISITING THE TOWN OF TEQUISQUIAPAN, QUERETARO

Tequisquiapan is a small town located in the central Mexico State of Queretaro and it’s only 2 hours north of Mexico city. With winding cobblestone, lined by attractive and neatly kept one story buildings. This town boasts a dozen or more 3 stars hotels, all with thermal swimming pools and a multitude of handicraft shops and galleries specializing in basket-ware. A specialist handicraft market, a lightly regular daily market, and on weekends a line of small stalls selling precious stones and jewelry can be found in this beautiful Mexican town. Tequisquiapan is also a town which even has an annual cheese and wine festival in early summer.

Tequisquiapan is another tile of the beautiful Queretaro’s mosaic. The town keeps its colonial image, with narrow streets leading into a small and sunny squares. The principal attraction of the town is the famous natural thermal water spas which have made of Tequisquiapan a famous tourist destination. There are also some nearby mines of semi precious stones, such as opal.

You should not miss the tour by trolley, a guided visit trough the main sites, monuments, legends, and most important issues of this town. There is no doubt that the tour in a panoramic trolley will be a great experience for you, traveling trough the town in a lovely 2 story trolley. In the center of the town stands plaza Miguel Hidalgo, dominated by a 19th century growth-iron pavilion and surrounded by stone archways. At one end stands the parish church of Santa Maria de la Asuncion with its neo-classical facade completed in the mid 19th century.

HIKING TO THE TEPOZTECO PYRAMID

Protected by huge mountains and riffs, Tepoztlan stands at the roof of the Tepozteco Mountain within a serene valley in the state of Morelos, which is located at almost 17 kilometers distance from Cuernavaca City and 74 kilometers from Mexico City. The name Tepoztlan comes from the nahuatl tongue and can be translated as The place of the copper axe, in allusion to the weapon carried by Ometochlti-Tepoztecatl, its guardian god.

Tepoztlan welcomes the traveler with the Colonial monumentally of the former Dominican Convent of La Navidad, but also with the stony countenance of the pyramid of Tepozteco, an emblematic indigenous place of worship that stands out for its bass relief inscriptions. The Tepozteco site sits on cliffs overlooking the town.To reach the site, you must climb a trail that leads off the end of the main street, the climb takes over an hour, this is because the Pyramid is about 600 meters above the base of the valley. Stone benches are built into several areas of the temple, and elaborate door Jambs and pillars grace the site, close to the structure are terraces perhaps living areas for the priests or other residents of the site, with a stunning view of the Tepoztlan valley and village.

If you happen to be around the town on Wednesday  or Sunday, you would then be a witness to the tianguis, the legendary Pre-Hispanic rooted mixture of market and fair within which the most assorted kinds of products are sold, bought or swapped. When you visit this small picturesque town, you must also try the ice cream. In this place, they have the best ice cream and of different kinds of flavours you can’t even imagine. XOCHICALCO PYRAMIDS

The Xochicalco Archaeological site is located 38 kms to the southwest of Cuernavaca city, accessible via the Alpuyeca exit of Mexico-Acapulco highway. It’s position affords sweeping views of the valley below. Xochicalco cultural patrimony of humanity in 1999. The name Xochicalco means place of flowers.

The city of Xochicalco was founded about 650 A.D. by the Olmeca-Xicallanca, a Mayan group of traders from the state of Campeche, affording them an excellent position along some of the major trading routes. It thus constituted an important fortressed commercial and religious center in the era following the decline of the great Meso-American states.

The main fortress is perched 132 meters above the valley and it’s surrounded by terraces holding minor constructions and several ball courts. An underground solar observatory is one of the principal attractions for the visitors to the site. The Quetzalcoatl pyramid or temple of the feathered serpent,coiling around the sides. This structure measures 21 by 19 meters at it’s base and 17 meters in height and it’s situated in what is known as Xochicalco’s Acropolis.

Below the main hill fortress are many terraced ridges holding lesser structures that have not yet been excavated. The view from the hilltop and pyramids to the surrounding valley is spectacular. Xochicalco’s on-site museum offers an excellent collection of artifacts of the area. The site is open to the public daily from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
