Tour of Teotihuacan Ruins

Teotihuacan Ruins

Teotihuacan, the most visited ancient ruins in all of Mexico is definitely a must-see while traveling in Mexico City. This ancient city is impressive just coming up to it. The Pyramid of the Sun is the third largest pyramid in the world and the amount of ruins left in tact are a site to see. Above is the site from the top of the Sun Pyramid. You can see the Moon Pyramid along with the Calle de los Muertos, Street of the Dead.

Don’t plan on some casual site-seeing while here. Be prepared for plenty of walking and climbing. The high altitude of the area will no doubt exert your body more than usual. Once inside the entrance for the ruins finding water will be a difficult task. Mare sure you have plenty of water bottles, a sun hat, and a camera for all the great pictures. The best time to arrive is in the morning. You will be able to avoid the crowds and the heat or rain depending on the time of year.

Most hotels in Mexico City offer tours to Teotihuacan for reasonable prices on tour buses. It won’t get you there early but you will be able to visit the Plaza de la Tres Cuturas and the Basilica of Guadalupe. If you rather take a cab it is a 45 minute ride from the city center. However, you can also arrange private tours with a driver who doubles a tour guide. These might work out cheaper depending on the amount of people traveling with you. Whichever way you get there make sure to get there and have a couple of hours to spend seeing these amazing ruins of Teotihuacan.

Vacationing in Mazatlán

My first vacation to Mexico was to Mazatlán, many years ago and it remains one of my favorite destinations in Mexico. Mazatlán is located on the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Sea of Cortez, across from the tip of the Baja Peninsula.

Mazatlán Beach

You will find that resorts, shopping, dining and other activities in Mazatlán are slightly lower than the other major resort cities in Mexico.

Mazatlán consists of the city region dubbed “Old Mazatlán” and the resort region termed “Zona Dorada” - The Golden Zone.

Zona Dorada is the northern part of Mazatlán and features wonderul beaches, shopping and resorts. One of my favorite activities in Mazatlán (and all of Mexico) is fishing. Mazatlán is a big fishing port known for it’s tuna and shrimp. However sportfishing for sailfish and marlin is ever popular.

Whether you like fishing, water sports, tennis, golf, horseback riding, shopping, eating or just relaxing at the beach, you can do it all in Mazatlán.

Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán is a wonderful resort in Mazatlán that offers luxury accommodations. Each suite has a breathtaking ocean view, a kitchenette and top-notch amenities. It’s a great resort for families. Visit their website to learn more about Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán.
